A ranger set is a buckle worn with a matching tip at the end of the strap and one or two keepers, also called slides, sitting between them. It goes on a tapered belt, which is why these are sized 3/4, 1, 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 inch. A three piece set is buckle, keeper and tip.
